At ActionCOACH Exeter we love to celebrate the business success stories of our clients, whether they are  receiving 1:1 coaching or are part of our ActionCLUB group coaching sessions. Here are just five of our local companies that have achieved extraordinary results on their growth journey.

In this post, we highlight how their businesses have developed and how the ActionCOACH programme has made a difference in their lives. The photographs were taken at an ActionCOACH 90 Day Planning Session in Exmouth in July.

ActionCOACH Exeter Success Stories 1 - CAPTech

Ben Sercombe of CAP Technologies at an ActionCOACH planning day.

“I’ve been getting coaching for the past six months or so with the phenomenon that is Andrew De Groot,” says Ben who is the founder of CAP Technologies. “1:1 Business Coaching has made a huge difference to me and my quest to grow my company as well as to achieve personal goals and spend more time with my family.”

Much has been achieved at CAP since the company started four years ago including several milestones that have recently been reached.

“I’m particularly pleased to now provide IT support services to over 40 organisations across the UK,” says Ben. “We manage 500 devices; employ seven employees, have closed 7,000 tickets in our CRM and generated 1000 invoices.

“All this has generated a £500K turnover in our fourth year of training. Working with the hugely talented and inspiring ActionCOACH Exeter team, has certainly helped to drive CAP’s business goals and growth to new heights.”

Duncan Attwood, fit20 Exeter

ActionCOACH Exeter Success Stories 2 - fit20

Pete Eggleston and Duncan Attwood of fit20.

fit20 is a flourishing fitness studio in Exeter run by Duncan Attwood who won a Great British Franchisee Award last year and soon hopes to open a second branch of the franchise in Torbay.

Since Duncan has been at ActionCOACH the company’s turnover has increased by 40% from the previous year. He has also had the confidence to employ a new studio manager. Peter Eggleston was promoted to this position in September 2022. This has freed up Duncan’s time to pursue his vision of developing new studios. He has also found the time to have regular date nights with his wife.

“If you want to be the best at what you do you really need a coach,” Duncan maintains. “Trying to go it alone is tough even if you are very good. If you look at the best sportsmen and women, every single one of them has at least one if not multiple coaches. I highly recommend Andrew and Action Coach to owners who are looking to grow their business while keeping a balance with family and personal objectives.”

Business success stories such as fit20 Exeter are possible for any company owner or leader who has the level of commitment and enthusiasm that Duncan has. Find out more about his ActionCOACH journey. Visit fit20 Exeter and discover how you can get fit in 20 minutes per week.

Chris Thomas and Dave Wright of Datel Electrical.

Datel Electrical has operated for over 20 years, providing diverse electrical services to both small and large commercial and domestic clients throughout Newton Abbot, Torquay, Exeter etc. The company is owned by Dave Wright who has been an active part of the ActionCOACH Exeter community over the past year. He shares why business coaching has worked so well for him.

“Things had been quite stagnant in the business and I realised the need for us to grow and be more sustainable. Hiring a business coach was the exact impetus we needed. ActionCOACH has certainly boosted our confidence and made us realise the importance of looking beyond the now, to long term planning. It’s fine being busy at the moment but we need to ensure we are busy continuously to ensure sustainability.

“You might be really good at what you do but not so good at the numbers or advertising. A business coach can steer you into different avenues of running a company that you need to address to ensure longevity. It can be lonely at the top and it’s good to have someone you can talk to, where you can fully discuss the stresses and strains, someone who has been there and done that and can guide you.”

Frankman Design has been going for 18 years in Torbay has been recognised by ThreeBestRated as one of the Top 3 Marketing Agencies in Torquay for 2022. The company, which seeks to help businesses grow through design, marketing and web initiatives, is run by Mark Vallance and Maggie Taylor as a dynamic partnership.

They also attended BizX 2023 with the ActionCOACH Exeter group.

“We have long been guilty of being airy-fairy creatives with more ideas than we have time,” says Maggie. “The overwhelm is very real when you’re the ones doing the work, as well as wearing multiple hats to be marketeers, salespeople, the accounts team and the office manager. As every business owner knows, it’s tough to juggle everything. Mark and I recently spent a packed day with Andrew De Groot and Adam Fleet to work on our goals. Breaking them down your goals into smaller chunks is a great way to tackle them.”
